Hi!
My name is Celeste.
I’m an emerging writer, poet and creator currently living on Bunurong Country (Bass Coast, Victoria). I started creating as a child and at that time would write poetry and stories mostly about the domestic and farm animals that surrounded me. Writing was all I ever wanted to do, but into adulthood I followed another passion (social justice). Even though I did, I felt my creativity was always there, dormant. I’d dip my toes in and dip my toes out until I decided to fully immerse myself. These days, animals still find their way into my stories, and I often write with my rescue cat, Mani, by my side.
Since reconnecting to my creativity, my visual poetry has been exhibited in Brunswick Street Gallery’s Small Works Art Prize, my haiku poetry and origami flowers displayed at a community arts festival in St Kilda and my writing published locally and in Frankie. Currently I’m pitching two of my picture story manuscripts and working on a contemporary short story collection for middle grade readers. Outside of writing, I appreciate photography and enjoy taking photos that capture the beauty of landscapes or of a moment. I’ve had the opportunity to take photos for select articles I’ve written.
I also enjoy making origami paper flowers and sharing them with others. I’ve been creating origami pieces, on and off, for over a decade. My great-grandmother used to make and sell paper flowers during the Depression and while the paper flowers I create are not exactly the same as my great-grandmothers, I’m happy to continue in her footsteps and have inherited her paper making tools. At the moment I’m working on origami flower creations that blend with elements of the written word. Thanks for dropping by! For professional inquiries, the contact page is the best way to reach me.
